1950s Vintage Red and Taupe Floral Print Day Dress
Vintage Clothing and Kimonos are not sized the same as modern manufactured clothing. Everything sold by ThisBlueBird will include actual garment measurements in inches. When choosing an item please refer to the measurements and compare them with a similar style garment you already own. Please note the measurements are actual garment measurements and you must leave 2 to 3 inches between your actual measurements and the garment for ease of movement.
The charts on this page are here to assist you in understanding how vintage clothing and kimonos are measured and where you should measure on your body.
Lovely mid 1950s New Look day dress in dark red and taupe floral print rayon acetate. It has a fitted pleated waist and cap sleeves. Front pockets, and the left pocket is embellished with a velvet heart, pink roses and prong-set rhinestones. Bodice lined in light muslin, skirt is not lined. Back metal zipper. Some flowers are dotted with hand-painted white detail. Dress is in excellent condition, although the flowers could be perked up a bit with a steamer.
Fabulous vintage tag inside reads For the Good Times by Lu-Dev's. Hand written on the tag is the year 1954, size 12, and the stock number.
This has a vintage size 12 tag but the dress is shown on a modern US size 8 dress form (35"/26.5"/36.9") and it was somewhat difficult to get on past the form's shoulders. There is no stretch to this fabric. This is best fit for a size 8 or smaller based on garment measurements. Please refer to the garment measurements listed below, taken while laying flat and doubled where appropriate.
