This is a SET OF 3 vintage silk kimonos from Japan. They date from the 1930s to 1950s. This is called Meisen silk, the silk threads are stretched and dyed with the pattern before they are woven to create an ikat style design. Meisen was extremely popular and a sign of high fashion prior to WWII. True Meisen production stopped by the early 1950s.
This set includes the three kimonos shown in the photos. All are primarily black with a red and white pattern. The plaid pattern kimono is not lined, the other two are fully lined.
They are all in good, wearable condition, there are some scattered spots on the two with lining. The plaid has very few if any spots. See all photos.
These could be worn as robes or repurposed for sewing or crafts. There is a lot of fabric with each kimono. They weigh on average 1.5 to 2 lbs each and are approximately 55 to 60 inches long.
