1910 - 1920 Antique Silk Kimono with Peacock Embroidery
Regular price$1,009.00 USD
In stock, ready to ship
Gorgeous antique silk kimono from 1910 to 1920. Made of the most beautiful blue ombre dyed silk and heavily embroidered with pink flowers and a large peacock design. The entire kimono is padded with spun raw silk between a layer of gossamer-fine ivory silk lining. The hem is fully padded. It includes a matching silk obi sash with long fringe and floral embroidery.
The kimono and obi set is nearly in perfect condition considering it is 100 years old. There are a few tiny spots, one small area of light fading at the hem and a line at the sleeve seam where it was stored folded. A little hand stitching can be seen at the shoulders. See the last photo for these.
✥ This kimono is truly deserving of display and would be excellent for a collector or a museum. ✥ It has been professionally dry cleaned and is ready for display. ✥ It is wearable, although recommend for special occasions or short periods. I would not suggest this kimono for a daily lounging robe.
Measurements are approximate, taken flat and then doubled where necessary.
Length from shoulder to hem: 51 inches Around body: 50 inches Sleeve to sleeve width: 47 inches Sleeve length: 19 inches Obi sash: 60 inches by 5 inches, not including fringe
