Gorgeous antique Chinese embroidered court robe from the 19th century. Forbidden Stitch embroidery and gold chasing on light blue grey silk with pastel flowers, a tiny rat, boats, pagodas and birds. The entire robe has a border of intricate appliqué stitch work. Frog closures on the front, very wide bell cuffs. Fully lined in blue silk.
In extremely good condition given the age. There are a few places of wear or small splits in the silk, mainly at the back of the neck, there are a few spots of missing chasing, mainly along the lapel edge, a few faint spots. See all the photos in detail. More photos are available here:
