Antique kimono robe from the 1900-1920 in light weight black silk crepe with an extensive painted pattern of flowers and wagons. Very lightly padded hem. Having all five family crests, this is a Kuro Tomesode kimono and it would have been worn only on special formal occasions. Fully lined in red silk and includes a handmade silk sash as shown. It has an additional white silk crepe lapel sewn in, it is only lightly baste stitched in so it can be easily removed. The sleeves also have extra white silk trim around the openings and the sleeves themselves have been folded up inside and stitched to shorten their length. If the sleeves were let back down, they would be at least 3-4 inches longer. Overall in good wearable condition, the black silk has faded over the years to a nearly even tone of dark grey-ish green. See photos to compare the black sash to the faded black kimono.
