Fabulous, rare antique black curly Persian lamb fur coat dating to the early to mid 1910s. It is made of low pile curly lamb with a sheared wide shawl collar. The cuffs are turned and have decorative notches. The front wraps across and buttons with two large black buttons/frog style closure. The buttons are not original to the coat. There are two interior pockets. The interior is lined in fine black silk satin.
Included in the photos is an illustration from the winter 1913-1914 Eaton's Catalog showing similar fur coats, including a nearly identical Persian lamb, third from right.
Condition:
The exterior is in very good condition for a 100 year old garment, very minor wear to the fur, mainly on the edges such as the cuffs. However, the silk satin lining is deteriorating. There are small to medium splits in various places, and the satin is fragile. The coat itself is very sturdy and wearable, but the lining should be removed or replaced. There are no offensive odors or stains. This coat would be perfect for an early 1900s-1910s period film/stage costume. See the last photo for a few of the examples of the lining issues.
