Extremely rare and simply gorgeous child's / girls kimono dating from between 1900 and 1919! It has a beautiful multi color Phoenix bird print on rinzu woven silk. Graceful long sleeves, a pink and red silk lining and a lightly rolled hem stuffed with spun silk padding. This kimono was made prior to 1920. Children's silk kimonos from this period are exceptionally rare. This would make an excellent display piece hanging or could even be professionally mounted and framed since it is a nice small size.
In excellent condition apart from a couple very faint spots that fade into the overall pattern, these are shown in last photo. The colors are very bright!
Please Note -- This is a CHILD'S size kimono. It is shown on a women's US size 0 dress form with the shoulders removed and it just barely fit enough to be able to photograph it for the listing. This absolutely **will not** fit an adult woman of any size. See last photo for diagram to explain how kimono measurements are taken and understand how this would fit a child.
Measurements are approximate, taken flat and then doubled where necessary.
Around body - 24 inches (60.96 cm) when flat and overlapped as in the diagram in the last photo on the listing - This is how it would fit if wrapped around the body and tied at the waist with a sash. Full width of fabric from edge to edge at center of kimono when opened up laying flat - 44 inches (111.76 cm) Length from shoulder to hem - 37 inches (93.98 cm) Sleeve to sleeve width - 32 inches (81.28 cm) Sleeve length - 22 inches (55.88 cm)
